A poem about a wish

Don’t you wish sometimes,
you were a tree?
Strong, grounded, confident.
I wonder if you’d ever feel doubt then?

Don’t you wish sometimes,
that you could switch places with the sheep?
Innocently grazing the hills. Roaming the field with no end in mind.
I wonder if you’d ever feel lost then?

Don’t you wish sometimes,
you could be a blade of grass?
Facing in the same direction as the blades around you.
Waiting for the sun to give you buoyancy
and the sheep to give a trim.
I wonder if you’d ever feel lonely then?

Don’t you wish sometimes,
you were water in a river?
Full of movement
steadily, slowly, methodically working your way to the ocean.
I wonder if you’d ever feel impatient then?

Don’t you wish sometimes,
you were the sun?
Radiantly beaming.
People hoping for your presence
I wonder if you’d ever feel empty then?

Don’t you wish sometimes
you were a rock in a mountain?
Standing for a reason
I wonder if you’d ever feel a lack of purpose then?

Don’t you wish sometimes,
you could be anything but yourself?
I wonder what you’d feel then?
